The Myth of Infinite Resources

Transparency remains a massive hurdle. Comprehensive public data tracking exact facility-level water usage from individual sites is sparse, leaving communities in the dark about how much liquid leaves the local ecosystem for good.

Tough Choices Ahead for Lawmakers

Elected officials face difficult legislative battles. Balancing multi-billion-dollar commercial growth with basic resource preservation requires political courage. State leaders must decide whether protecting public drinking water and local seafood industries takes priority over unchecked industrial expansion.

Strengthening oversight requires more than just words on paper. Lawmakers need to fund staffing and equipment for rigorous water management properly. Communities cannot afford to wait until wells run dry before taking action. Real progress demands enforcing strict transparency rules, prioritizing sustainable cooling methods, and protecting local water tables before permanent damage sets in.
