The Uncomfortable Truth About NIMBY Progressivism and Populism

There is a profound hypocrisy running through this bipartisan coalition.

What Actually Works

If we want to stop playing partisan theater with our infrastructure, we need to abandon populist nostalgia and adopt a ruthlessly pragmatic playbook:

  • Co-locate generation directly with load. Stop forcing tech companies to fight for congested grid access. Require them to build behind-the-meter generation—small modular nuclear reactors, dedicated geothermal plants, or massive solar-plus-storage arrays—that feeds the facility first and spills excess power back to the grid.
